This paper aims at analysing two plays by the Catalan writer Salvador Espriu based on the tragedy of Hipòlit and Fedra : Fedra (1936), the Catalan version of a text by Llorenç Villalonga written in 1932 and bearing the same title, and Una altra Fedra, si us plau (1977). The analysis, firstly, relates each of these plays to some previous versions written by several illustrious authors (Euripides, Seneca, Racine and Unamuno) and studies their similarities and differences. Secondly, it compares and defines the singularity of each of these plays taking into account that both from the point of view of fictionality and drama construction they follow very different models and discourses.
