In the field of teaching foreign languages (FL), the use of translation as a suitable didactic instrument has been reassessing over the last four decades. Besides the meaningful volume of studies welcoming the (re)incorporation of translation as a pedagogic aid, the Common European Framework comprises mediation activities among the skills a FL learner should acquire. This proposal aims to illustrate some benefits of translation in didactics of nearby languages, taking into account the specific features of the learning and teaching processes in those cases.
