Abstract

Language plays a crucial role in the formation of gender roles and can have a significant impact on the process of educating students. As we know, language is not simply a mirror of cultural norms and values, but also acts as an amplifier, perpetuating gender stereotypes and attitudes. The words and expressions we use can reinforce the notion that certain activities, professions or behaviors are reserved exclusively for one gender or another. Therefore, our main objective is to analyze the ramifications of the use of discriminatory language in the educational environment and, at the same time, highlight how the adoption of inclusive and non-sexist language in classrooms can contribute to the creation of a more equal and safe learning environment. A crucial aspect lies in promoting critical reflection among students about the implications of gender in language and its relationship with the learning process. This can help students become more aware of how words can limit or expand their opportunities, as well as their perception of what is appropriate for their gender. Furthermore, by promoting conscious and equitable use of language in the classroom, we are laying the foundation for a more just and equitable society in the future.
