Abstract

Translation is very rarely carried out horizontally where accurate equivalents are easily found in glossaries, but the translation of video games (often referred to in the industry as “game localisation”) can take an interesting turn because of the very nature of the product, and the type of entertainment it is expected to provide. The translation of products for the multimedia interactive entertainment software industry is marked by practical knowledge of translation tools, as well as by creativity. This is one of the reasons why language specialists who want to become part of this industry are advised to be technically savvy, competent researchers, but also imaginative translators.
