On the occasion of the publication of this book by the social scientist Piketty, a critical approach is offered to the work considered as an integral part of a project, the Piketty Project. This project would encompass this work and the previous one Capital in the 21st century, both being a by way of conclusion of the research work on inequalities undertaken by this author since the 90s of the last century. If in Capital in the XXI century we were offered a characterization of the new phase of capitalism and its social consequences, among them and above all inequalities, the work that concerns us here already directly addresses the meaning and historical evolution of inequalities. Once again, we find a rigorous, honest work that, as usual in Piketty, is accompanied by a website where readers can access the data handled by the French for their study.
